Divinguru Nilaveli

Divinguru Nilaveli, formerly known as the Original Nilaveli Diving Centre by Hans, is PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Resort, S-23912, PADI Award Winner 2018 for Outstanding Contribution of Diver Education, PADI Green Star Award and 100% Project Aware. We are open everyday from 8am to 7pm from 15th March to 15th November, post which is monsoon, and we shift to south to our diving center Divinguru Unawatuna. We are located at the north east coast of Sri Lanka at the Divinguru Beach Resort directly on the Nilaveli Beach, 12km north of Trincomalee and a few minutes by boat from the famous Pigeon Island. The Pigeon Island is known as the perfect snorkeling spot to see Black Tip Reef Sharks and different species of sea turtles. We offer Reef, Rock, Deep & Night Dives at our different dive sites in Uppuveli, Trincomalee and Nilaveli. Starting every day at 8:30 and 13:30 for one or two dives. At our Diving Base you have the possibility to practice mostly boat dives with all grades of difficulties suitable for beginners and experienced divers. We conduct all levels of PADI Courses from DSD to Instructor Development Programmes. We have a team of international and local PADI Dive Instructors, PADI Divemasters and local boatmen. You don’t need to be a Scuba Diver to get to know the fascinating world underwater and its splendor. Join us on our Snorkeling trips to the famous Pigeon Island Marine Park or Dolphin & Whale Watching tours.

Diving

The shallow dive sites around the Pigeon Island Marine Park are mostly covered by hard and soft corals with a lot of different coral fishes and for sure Black Tip Reef Sharks in the shallow parts of the coral reef. The Nilaveli Dive Sites are mostly shallow up to max. 20 m. At these shallower dive sites you will find a lot of different hard, soft and table corals and a lot of different coral fishes of the Indian Ocean, Barracudas, Trevallies, Stingrays and other kind of fishes. There is also a lot of macro staff to see. It is the perfect place for new certified open water and not so experienced divers as well as for relaxed advanced divers. Good wrecks are rare in Nilaveli & Trincomalee. Only north of Nilaveli there is one very shallow wreck up to 8m.
